It is highly recommended that all members read the Official WTHJA Show Packet for all rules and regulations for WTHJA horse shows and year end awards.  For an overview of the point policies, the guidelines are listed below:

  • WTHJA membership year is December 1 to November 30.  WTHJA members are awarded points for placing in WTHJA sponsored or approved shows.  The show prize list will indicate its affiliation with WTHJA.  These year-end awards are presented at the annual awards banquet.  Current WTHJA membership is required for the owner or lessees of all horses that are to be considered for year-end awards.  Points will accrue from the date a membership application and dues are received, forward.  No points will be accrued retroactively.  If you join or renew your membership at any point during a show, you will receive all points won at that show.

  • Horse recordings are not required.  All horses owned or leased by WTHJA members will be credited with points if the member is current with their membership dues.  If a member is leasing a horse, it is that member’s responsibility to inform the WTHJA statistician of said lease so that points can be credited.

  •  In Hunter and Jumper divisions, it is the horse/pony that accumulates points.  Membership is required for the owner or lessee of all horses to be eligible for points toward year-end awards.

  • In Equitation divisions, it is the rider who accumulates points . Membership is required for the rider only to be eligible for annual awards.

  • WTHJA points toward year-end awards may be earned at approved shows sponsored by affiliates of WTHJA only in divisions where class specifications are identical to those of the WTHJA, as set forth in the following class specifications, with the exception that fence heights may vary as much as, but no more than, three inches (3”).

  • All WTHJA approved and affiliated shows, regardless of their rating will count toward WTHJA year-end awards as single “A” shows. Points won in all divisions (A-rated, C-rated and locally rated ) will be tabulated using the USA Equestrian single “A” rated point increment chart.  To determine points, check the number of horses shown in the 1st over-fences class of the division, then find your placing and move across the chart to determine points value.

  •  For all WTHJA recognized divisions, if there are not at least three riders/horses with points in a division at year's end, that division will not receive any year-end awards.

  • Current WTHJA membership is required for the owner or lessees of all horses that are to be considered for year-end awards. Points will accrue from the date a membership application and dues are received, forward to the end of the current show year.  No points will be accrued retroactively.  If you join or renew your membership at any point during a show, you will receive all points won at that show.

    ·         Horse ownership:

o        The recorded owner of all horses must be a current member of WTHJA for points to be considered for year-end awards. This includes but is not limited to individuals, partnerships, LLC, LLP, families and farms.  Therefore, if an LLC etc. is the recorded owner of a horse, the LLC etc. must be a current WTHJA member for points to be considered for year-end awards.

    ·         Horse recordings are not required.  All horses owned or leased by WTHJA members will be credited with points if the member is current with their membership dues.  If a member is leasing a horse, it is that member’s responsibility to inform the WTHJA statistician of said lease so that points can be credited.

    ·         In Hunter and Jumper divisions, it is the horse/pony that accumulates points.  Membership is required for the owner or lessee of all horses to be eligible for points toward year-end awards.

    ·         In Equitation divisions, it is the rider who accumulates points.  Membership is required for the rider only to be eligible for annual awards.

    ·         In order for points to count, the horse must be entered and shown under the name of the WTHJA member.

    ·         If a name change occurs for a horse it is the member’s responsibility to inform the WTHJA statistician of said name change.

No points will be credited toward an award unless the horse appears in the competition’s records (i.e., result sheets or catalogue) as exhibited in the name of the WTHJA recorded owner or lessee as required above.

Please notify the WTHJA or the horse show office immediately whenever there is a change in ownership or a lease for your horse.  Notification may also be made by contacting Ann Ford Upshaw (901) 497-9874 afu@bellsouth.net or  Mandy Ling at  amandameiling31@yahoo.com.
